Originally compiled as a dossier to assist in the administration of Arab tribes by the British in Aden, Arab Tribes in the Vicinity of Aden now provides a unique insight into the development and structure of tribal life at the end of the nineteenth century.
Here is listed the accumulated data concerning twenty tribes of major influence, information carefully collected and meticulously presented by the officers of the British Residency in Aden between 1886 and 1906.
As a source work for historical research, or as background to a more general study, the republication of this scarce work will be widely welcomed.
