Description
This volume derives from a manuscript given into the hands of a British commissioner, appointed to intervene between warring factions in Oman in 1856. He immediately recognised the work as a unique record of all that is known concerning the ruling figures in Oman, from the founding of Islam to the mid-nineteenth century. Based upon native records and the later writings of Salil-ibn-Salik, there is no doubt as to the importance of this work in tracing the history of that region. This facsimile, containing the invaluable appendices of the original edition, first published in 1871, will be welcomed both by historians and students of Arab history.
